Abstract :
Data PBXs (DPBXs) have been installed in applications that need a data communication solution for low-speed interfaces to terminal devices and host computers. Local area networks (LANs) have flourished in applications that require a relatively high-speed, packet oriented data transfer mechanism. The issue of data traffic flow and network control that arise when internetworking is attempted are described. The delays cased by LAN protocol processing are analyzed
