Abstract :
Boost converters have been usually used to power factor correction. However, the conventional topology has some drawbacks such as high cost, large size, and low efficiency because the first-stage boost converter is connected with second-stage DC-DC converter. This paper proposes a new PFC converter where tow boost converters operating in an interleaving manner are connected to the transformer, and the output power is obtained from the equivalent full-bridge converter configuration. The steady state and the dynamic characteristics were analyzed. As a result, some good features of ZVS operation, small input current ripple, and high efficiency have been clarified by DC input and AC input experiments
