  • Abstract
We present a low cost solution for long-term archival for PACS, integrating database manager, online media, nearline storage (jukebox) and shelves. Basically, each event is handled and coordinated by a manager that keeps track of all file movements and media conditions. This solution supports automatic flow of continuous medical images for several years. The proposed solution integrates online archiving of cineangiographic images with long-term storage and retrieval. It represents a low-cost solution for handling dynamic images in a PACS. A Web-based monitoring subsystem has also been built in order to graphically track all processes and data flow and warn of abnormal conditions as well
