Abstract
Presents a structured medical text field proposal for the DICOM 3.0 diagnosis informational object, provided to create an ultrasonographic image database, for teaching and research purposes. Structuring is based on the type of examination the associated compulsory key-words, representing the relevant investigated anatomic structures and the diagnosis, as well as on the user-defined attributes, that describe the pathological findings related to the keywords. A hierarchical model, based on the above-mentioned entities, is used for data-base organisation and retrieval informational model. The main purpose of this work is to design and implement a data-base of single and multi-frame transesophageal echocardiographic images. The retrieval facilities are based on the standard DICOM retrieval informational model and on the proposed informational model, using specific medical attributes
