Abstract :
In this paper transient heat transfer analysis in a smooth two-pass square channel is done using numerical techniques. This study is carried out in a 3D model of the two pass channel by assuming 1-D heat transfer in span-wise direction. The detailed Nusselt number distributions are investigated for a two pass smooth channel in the first pass, before the 1800 turn section and in the second pass. The numerical results are compared with the experimental data, and are found to be in good agreement. The detailed distributions and numerical post processing result provide a clear understanding of the secondary flows by the sharp turn. This study was limited to two Reynolds numbers of 30,000 and 60,000.
