  • Abstract
    A computer-aided automatic measurement method based on reverse engineering is proposed for determination of morphological parameters of hip joint from living body CT images. Firstly, the geometrical model of hip joint is built according to the anatomical structure. Secondly, 3D models of hip joint is reconstructed from the CT images and scattered to point cloud data. Thirdly, the point cloud is approximated with 3D fitting algorithm based on reverse engineering techniques, and in the end, some interesting parameters are measured automatically. 50 sets of in vivo CT data of hip joint of normal volunteers are tested for indicating the validity of the presented method.
