  • Abstract
    A new computer-aided approach for interference analysis in urban areas is presented. The proposed method integrates a three-dimensional (3D) geographical database, propagation path analysis by computational geometry, and diffraction and reflection modeling. Applying geometrical algorithms to 3D geographical data comprising buildings and ground elevations, interference propagation paths, including diffraction and reflection, are searched. Propagation models are investigated with field measurements to represent diffraction at building edges and reflection by building walls, including nonspecular scattering. An overall procedure integrating these techniques for interference estimation is presented together with practical applications
