Abstract :
This paper presents a hybrid evolutionary algorithm for the flexible job shop problem. We developed and tested new genetic operators. Insertion heuristics have been incorporated into crossover and mutation operators in order to enhance the performance of the genetic search. The approach is tested on a set of standard instances taken from the literature. The empirical experiments are promising and validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm
