Abstract :
The PALplus system has resulted from a unique co-operative project between European broadcasters and consumer electronics companies, and has come to fruition within its target timescale. Ghost cancellation, a spin-off development of the PALplus project, seems set to be introduced to the consumer market during 1996. Success of this European enhanced-quality widescreen system now rests with the consumer in the home. As with any other major new consumer electronics product, a meaningful indication of the overall success of PALplus in terms of market penetration of receivers can be given only after a period of some 3-5 years following its introduction
