Abstract :
The need for an Oxygen Analyzer Test Set was established in the late 1980´s to determine the health of some aircraft Molecular Sieve Oxygen Generating Systems (MSOGS). Some background is given showing the development, objectives and concerns with the new USAF test set. Since the B-1B aircraft was having numerous failures with the Molecular Sieve Oxygen Generating System (MSOGS), a more reliable method of checking the health of the MSOGS concentrator was desired. The new test set was developed in-house by the USAF at the Wright-Patterson AFB. Also, it was needed to determine how the test set would be used. This paper outlines the collection of aircraft data and issues to determine how the test set would be used. The test set operation was validated at Ellsworth AFB, SD and background is discussed. The MSOGS oxygen analyzer test set proved to be a valuable tool to monitor the health of the B-1B MSOGS concentrator. The test set was easy to use by maintainers who had never used it or be trained to use it. The test set is was developed in-house by the USAF, is completely supportable by the local USAF bases
