  • Abstract
    The authors describe how Power Technologies, Inc. (PTI) designed the PSS/1 power system stabiliser to improve dynamic stability and undamped power angle oscillations. The stabiliser implements real-time software in a microprocessor-based system to produce supplementary stabilising signals to the excitation controls of any generator. The stabiliser has been applied to the existing controls on steam driven, hydro driven or pumped storage generation systems
