Abstract :
The design of optimal IIR filters that can be used in Σ-Δ demodulator circuits is presented. Because of its simplicity, IIR architecture is well suited to VLSI implementation over the FIR architecture. The optimal IIR filter structure design described is based on the Laguerre series expansion of a rational transfer function. Simulation results indicate that the Laguerre filter approach is more efficient than a straight-forward implementation of IIR filters
