Abstract
Cost reduction and time to market pressures challenge the power supply industry. Allocation of personnel, resource and capital investment must create adequate returns on investment. The use of an outsourcing manufacturing model provides a method to improve corporate flexibility, time-to-market, agility and focus. However, the unique nature of power supply technology and manufacturing methods represent a risk to the successful adoption of an outsourcing model. The solutions to problems presented in adopting a contract manufacturing model offer opportunities for process improvements that ultimately improve competitiveness through cost reduction and reduced time to market
