Abstract :
A briefcase portable satellite communications terminal has been developed. This terminal enables fax, telex, or E-mail communication via the INMARSAT satellite system between any two points on earth. The briefcase terminal front-end module is described. This supercomponent, assembled on a single substrate, demonstrates a transmit power of 30.8 dBm and a 2.5-dB receive noise figure. It is optimized for low cost, is lightweight, and is small in size.<>
