The impact of evolving Smart Grids on network asset management

Smart Grids for electricity distribution networks are now becoming a reality. This presents the Asset Manager with new opportunities and challenges associated with managing network assets. This paper draws together the opportunities, benefits and issues that evolving Smart Grids present to the Asset Manager, with particular emphasis on maintenance aspects, and how this is expected to impact on the future maintenance of electricity distribution networks.
