Abstract :
A cable fault locator based on a reflectometry is used to test the integrity of a cable. It is well known that all the reflectometries have an inherited drawback known as a blind spot that indicates the minimum length of the cable that can be measured. This paper proposes a method based on an adaptive recursive least squares filtering and a normalized cross correlation to reduce the blind spot. The experimental results show that the proposed method can estimate a fault location on the cable with high spatial resolution.
