Abstract :
Two novel boron-containing organic compounds, azaboranaphthalene and phenylazaboranaphthalene were synthesized. Crystals of these compounds were grown from solution and their scintillation properties characterized. Azaboranaphthalene and phenylazaboranaphthalene show a broad emission band under X-ray excitation in the region 350-550 nm, show a response to neutron excitation, have a fast scintillation decay and exhibit pulse shape discrimination.
