Abstract
Based on the banded symmetric and Toeplitz matrix model for the mutual coupling of uniformly linear array (ULA), a reduced dimensional angle estimation and mutual coupling self-calibaration algorithm is proposed for bistatic MIMO radar. The new algorithm combines the angles with mutual coupling parameters but decouples them, which can provide accurate angle estimation without the knowledge of mutual coupling. In addition, the mutual coupling coefficients for array self-calibration can be achieved simultaneously. Instead of multidimensional search or iterative computation, the algorithm just uses a one-dimensional search, so it can reduce the computational cost. The correction and efficiency of the proposed method are verified by the computer simulation results.
