Abstract :
Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) are commonly used to map important topographic parameters such as Vegetation, Slope etc. However the quality of such DEMs depend upon various parameters like Source accuracy, Terrain roughness, Interpolation etc. In many cases errors in this model are neither measured nor estimated. In this paper a highly precise & accurate Cartosat-1 satellite image is used to acquire topographic information. This image is used to evaluate DEM which can later compared with top sheet to check accuracy of generated Model. This paper presents a framework for evaluation of DEM from Cartosat-1. It shows that the quality of DEM can be enhanced by using high resolution satellite data which provide both improved spatial resolution and increased accuracy in all aspects.
