Abstract :
This paper deals with the design realization and full control of a PM assisted synchronous reluctance machine (PMASR) for minimal hybrid electric vehicle. The work is based on a European Research Project that involved seven partners from five different countries (including universities, motor producers and car makers) and that defined the specification for both a PMASR prototype and a switched reluctance prototype. The adopted motor design approach is illustrated in the paper together with the observer-based control strategy. Experimental results are given, from the prototype drive.
