Abstract
A broadband suspended patch antenna fed by co-planar double L-probes is proposed in this paper. Unlike a conventional L-probe fed patch antenna, the co-planar double L-probe is composed of two identical L-shaped strips which are printed entirely on a substrate and placed symmetrically below the patch. Hence, this kind of L-probe is more flexible to design and convenient to fabricate than a conventional one. A broadband 180° power divider is used to feed the double L-probes, which maintains the currents induced on the patch in phase and improves the symmetry of the current distribution. Because of this, the symmetry of the E-plane in radiation patterns and the H-plane cross polarization property can be improved.
