Abstract :
Discourse analysis of a US Senate committee hearing shows the construction of a psychology of fear in governmental public deliberation. Professionals who participate in public policy making as expert witnesses or organization spokespersons need to use discourse analytic techniques to recognize the functions of perspective in public discourse. Teachers and trainers can help prepare practitioners to relate specialized knowledge to a prevailing perspective on terror.
