Abstract :
The photocatalyst of titanium dioxide/float pearls which had float performance was prepared by sol-gel method. The compound photocatalyst of phosphotungstic acid/titanium dioxide/float pearls which had high photocatalysis activity and floatability was prepared through surface modifying by dipping method. Scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and UV-Vis diffused reflectance spectroscopy analysis were applied to characterize the compound photocatalyst. The results showed that float pearls were covered well by titanium dioxide; the prepared compound photocatalyst showed higher photocatalysis activity. Phosphotungstic acid/titanium dioxide/float pearls was employed to photocatalytically degrade organic dye congo red. The degradation rate of congo red was 90% after 70 minutes´ reaction. The used catalyst was activated and its photocatalysis could be regenerated.
