Abstract :
A simulation model was established on a synthesis of substrate specific kinetics and Contois function to predict ammonia and carbon dioxide emissions in simulated food waste composting processes. To verify the developed model, a series of composting experiments were undertaken. The model shows better agreement with experimental result for soluble substrate concentration (S), in which the average relative error was 7.09%, and the average relative error of NH3-N concentration was 17.00%. But the ammonia loss rate of the model is not in accordance with the experiment and needs to be further improved.
