Abstract :
Describes a digital frequency synthesizer that uses a novel phase-estimation technique in which a phase accumulator is used as a reference generator and the phase error is treated as a numerical value. The performance of the proposed system is verified by both experiments and theoretical analysis. It is shown that the proposed system has faster frequency switching speed and better synchronous mode than the conventional PLL system because of the characteristics of the phase-frequency detector and the high-frequency reference.<>
