Abstract :
A pilot-plant combined experimental process of vermifiltration was employed to treat the wastewater of rural settlements. The results indicated that the synchronous sewage and sludge treatment was realized. When the hydraulic loading is in the range of 2.4 ~ 6.72 m3-m-2-d, the vermifiltration effluent of COD, BOD5, SS and NH4-N can reach the second level of GB18918-2002 of dishcharge standard, China, respectively. Simultaneously, the excellent reduction and stabilization of the sludge produced were obtained. The reduction percent was about 38.2 ~ 43.4% and the ratio of VSS/SS of excess sludge was about 44.8 ~ 48.1%.
