Abstract :
In this paper, Co/Bi and Mn/Ce catalysts were employed to decompose landfill leachate, n-hexanoic acid, n- butyric acid and acetic acid in the process of catalytic wet air oxidation (CWAO). The CWAO was also carried out with Ni2+and NH4-N+ present, and different pH values for n-butyric solution over the Co/Bi and Mn/Ce catalysts. The catalytic activity of the two catalysts was analyzed basis on the experimental results and characterization parameters. The results indicated that the specific area and pore volume of Mn/Ce catalysts were superior to those of Co/Bi catalyst; the Co/Bi catalysts have a higher reactivity over oxidizing landfill leachate, but a relative lower reactivity over degrading the short chain carboxylic acid in comparison to the Mn/Ce catalysts after 120 min at 200degC and 220degC. Compared with the decomposition of n- butyric, the reactivity of Mn/Ce catalysts decreased more than that of Co/Bi catalysts on the decomposition of n-butyric with Ni2+ and NH4-N+ present.
