Abstract :
Summary from only given, as follows. This paper presents a new method to terminate a finite difference (FD) grid by simulating open boundary conditions. The idea and the results are presented for FD solution of Laplace´s equation subject to Dirichlet boundary conditions are imposed and an inner one where the computational grid is terminated using special equations linking the nodes on the inner boundary to the nodes on the outer (Dirichlet) boundary and the nodes just inside the inner boundary. The medium between boundary. We refer to this method of terminating the FD computational grid as the transparent Grid Termination (TGT) because the FD solution within the inner (TGT) boundary is calculated as if a much larger computation grid, extending all the way to the outer boundary, were employed. The special FD equations for the TGT boundary are calculated only once but can be used repeatedly and depend only on the ´distance´ between the TGT and Dirichlet boundaries.
