  • Abstract
The utilization of low power permanent magnet synchronous motors for driving electromechanical equipments means a substantial decrease of the exploitation expenses, because these motors have good efficiency and power factor. The optimal design of these motors aims at searching and choosing that machine which to the criterion minimum total cost and to certain restrictive correspond conditions imposed by the type of the drive. The paper presents several significant simulations which provide quantitative and qualitative information for the final constructive solution. The result of the optimal design was a decrease of the total cost with 15.3% and a decrease of the exploitation cost with 35.4%. As a drawback, we have the increase of the fabrication cost with 6.41% and an increase of the machine weight with 6.29%.
