Abstract :
There are presented results regarding the temperature evolution of a permanent magnet synchronous servomotor with respect to the geometry of the housing. The servomotor is intended for powering an electric vehicle. The cooling of the motor is performed by natural convection and thermal conduction modes. The solving of the posed problem implies placing, by optimal distance, cooling fins on the PMSM housing, given the fins number and dimensional geometry. Due to the conjugated phenomena, thermal transfer and fluid mechanics, and the nonlinear properties of the involved materials and fluids, a numerical solving method is applied, namely the finite element method.
