Abstract :
In this paper, the transient current and flux expressions of an induction machine have been analyzed in the case of a three phase short circuit of the supply network. The starting point is the limitations of the simplified expressions, and the difference between the shape of the signals obtained via simulation and mathematical expressions. Mathematical expressions for currents and fluxes are derived, abandoning most simplifications, and the new results match the references. Subjected to analysis are the damping time constants, the components of currents and fluxes and the general shape of the transient; the peak of the stator current and the time of its occurrence are precisely determined.
