Multimedia teaching can be divided into two forms — assisting teaching and assisting learning. Currently, multimedia teaching is performed as the former in teaching of fundamental mathematic courses. Although there have been a lot of analysis and discussion on effectiveness of multimedia teaching, majority of them are qualitative analysis from instructors´ perception. This study carries out an experimental teaching, in which both traditional teaching and multimedia teaching are implemented in the same course and towards the same teaching objects. Besides, questionnaires are designed and implemented, based on which the effectiveness of multimedia teaching is studied. The result of this study demonstrates that multimedia courseware does little for improving teaching effectiveness. Analyzes the reasons and proposes some suggestion for improving the effectiveness.
