Abstract :
The paper analyzes the necessary to partition urban traffic signals into different sub-areas firstly. Then a new optimal model is built and an optimal control algorithm based on sub-area partition is proposed for urban traffic signals. In order to gain minimal delay time of vehicles, HCM2000 is used and famous Robertson model is embedded in the optimization process, which can guarantee the proposed model is practicable, effective and advanced. Finally, CORSIM, a traffic micro-scope simulation software, is used to prove the proposed method is prior to the others and provides a new idea of area signal control for urban traffic.
