Abstract :
The paper reports on work carried out within the RACE project R2121-BISIA (broadband interactive services on integrated access). It first introduces a common ATM based platform for supporting emerging interactive audio-visual services on different access types. It then describes how it is applied to CATV networks and provides details on its architecture and the key technologies enabling the introduction of ATM in CATV networks. Finally the paper describes the BISIA field trial taking place in the fall of 1995
