Abstract :
With an adsorption-biodegradation anaerobic sequencing batch reactor(AB-ASBR) operated at mesophilic temperature, the adsorption and regeneration processes at low organic loading rate (OLR) were studied. The optimal adsorption time and regeneration time were investigated. Results indicated that in 20 min, the chemical oxygen demand(COD) removal by adsorption usually reached maximum value, and the COD adsorption rates were 70%, 62% and 55% for OLRs of 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 gCOD/L-d respectively. The produced volatile fatty acids (VFAs) concentration increased slowly. The produced biogas, mainly composed of CH4, accounted for 72% in volume and showed no obvious change.
