Abstract :
During the mass determination process, magnetic forces cannot be distinguished from the gravitational forces. Magnetic forces can arise from the mutual interaction of two mass standards, as well as between a mass standard, the weighing instrument and other objects in the vicinity. The magnetic proprieties of the weights must be determined before the mass calibration to ensure that the magnetic interactions are negligible. The susceptometer method is used to detect the susceptibility and the permanent magnetization of weight pieces using a modified electronic microbalance with a permanent magnet on its pan. The paper refers to the influence of susceptometer in magnetic polarization of the weights.
