This paper develops a model of integration of tourism and stress displacement, and conducts an empirical study to test whether tourism performs a function of transferring stress. Our research result shows that tourism is a mediator between stress perception and stress displacement, which means that tourism owns the function of social compensation and integration, helping individuals to re-build themselves and retrieve their identities by seeking an alternative solution in a different area. As building a harmonious society has become the theme of the era, We should not to follow the beaten track of focusing on the economic attributes of tourism, but to explore fully the social function of it and enforce paid-leave system, to improve the quality of life performance of work and thereby promoting the Pareto Improvement of social welfare.
