Abstract :
This paper presents an overview of the status on power quality indices adopted until now in Brazil. The new regulatory agency, ANEEL, is now working on the development of a good incentive and penalty framework in order to ensure the quality of the electricity power supply. This work is crucial because of the new restructuring process where private agents will be in charge of the generation and distribution and retail segments. The aspects related to the relationship among the utilities, consumers and regulatory agency in establishing the power standards are addressed in this paper.
