Abstract :
The paper presents some of the results obtained in the study of the influence of higher order load models and their parameters on the power system small-signal stability. The results of the influence of various nonlinear dynamic loads on power system small-signal stability are presented and discussed. This study is an extension of the previous studies where only first order models have been used. As the subject of this research was small signal stability of the power system, linearised models of the power system and its elements were used. Load models were incorporated in a modified Heffron-Phillips model of a synchronous machine. The power system consisting of a synchronous machine, local load, transmission line and an infinite bus was used for the analysis.
