Abstract :
Nonlinear loads generate harmonic currents in power systems deteriorating the efficiency of the involved industrial processes. The use of shunt active power filters (APFs) reduces the line current harmonic distortion improving the power quality level. Usually, APF control strategies are tested under sinusoidal main voltage waveforms. However, in practice the main voltage might he affected by sudden changes in their magnitude and phase. This paper presents a new control technique for shunt APFs with tolerance to voltage dips. Simulation and experimental results validating the proposed technique are shown.
