  • Abstract
    This paper reports on the integration of PD measurements to a compact and computer-based insulation test system which allows, for the first time, the simultaneous measurement of both the impedance parameters of HV insulation and the partial discharge behavior. Additionally, PD faults can be located. For analyzing characteristic PD types, a fault databank based expert system is integrated. With it, the complete insulation condition can be assessed in a complex manner. The system is characterized by a general modular conception. It is designed to implement most of the functionality in digital-components, exclusively. The implementation of different acquisition units is cascadable. In this paper, a brief survey is presented on the different measuring procedures integrated in the device.
