Abstract :
Electrostatic precipitation is a preferred method for controlling oil mists. A new electrostatic collector is developed for effective cleaning of gases from oil mist. In the ionization section of the electrostatic collector fine particles are charged in the corona discharge. Ionization section consists of high voltage needle electrodes installed in the grounded nozzles. Charged particles are collected in the grounded tube bundle installed in the collection section. The laboratory and the first field tests were successfully carried out. The current voltage characteristics (CVC) of the ionization section are obtained for gas flow without and with oil mist for two different nozzle diameters. Oil mist with particle mass concentration up to 200 mg/Nm3 and particle number concentration up to 106 1/cm3 does not influence on corona onset voltage. The onset voltage depends on the nozzle geometry. There is no practical difference between current-voltage characteristics in the gas flow without and with oil aerosol.
