  • Abstract
Time variation of wireless channels can have a serious effect on the quality of service (QoS) experienced by the data streams. However, these channel processes cannot be easily characterized within a queueing theory framework. In this work, the burstiness properties of the wireless channel process are captured using its peakedness function. The channel process is then replaced by a renewal process with the same peakedness function to enable analysis based on queueing theory results. Simulations show that the approximate queue formed using peakedness matching is a very good predictor of the QoS behavior of the original queue.
