Method of Granger causality test was applied to analyze relationship between cultivated land conversion area and GDP from 1985 to 2005 in Shanxi Province with Eviews3.1. The results show that there exits the cointegration relationship between cultivated land conversion and GDP time series. Therefore, the government should improve the land intensive use level, abandon the extensive mode of high investment and high consumption and to achieve harmonious development between them.
