Abstract
This paper presents approaches, solution method and some practical results of the short- and mid-range EHV transmission system planning in the Israel Electric Corporation´s (IEC) power system. An effective network analysis approach-the use of network sensitivity factors for preventing the overloading of system elements-is considered. As a main system reliability criterion in design process, a single contingency criterion was chosen. For specific regions, such as important 400 kV transmission lines and considerable central town 161 kV areas, it would be necessary to use a double contingency criterion
