  • Abstract
    The results of theoretical and experimental studies of electromagnetic transients on overhead transmission lines when clearing single-phase short-circuits by means of single-phase-reclosing automatics, are presented in this article. Special attention is paid to an examination of transients taking place in the faulted phase. Effects of various factors upon these processes are considered. A number of indications by which one can determine that the fault was self-cleared during dead time, are found. The results of the experimental check of the proposed method for determination of a state of the tripped phase, are presented.
