Abstract :
This paper gives a short description of the power based differential protection relay which is currently developed at the Institute of Electric Power Systems at the University of Erlangen-Nurnberg, Germany. In this paper, the protection of three-phase transformers is investigated. However other applications are possible. The main differences to existing current differential protection relays are shown for several transformers.
