Abstract :
Many utilities regularly receive customer complaints in regard to the tripping of adjustable speed drives due to brief voltage reductions. Several studies have appeared in the literature which examine this problem from the context of statistical analysis of the types of voltage reductions and the effect of drive component performance in the reductions. Here, a study is made of the effects of voltage reductions on electric drives not as a function of component size or length and duration of the outage but instead as a function of the supervisory control algorithms
