Abstract :
This paper proposes a novel single-stage driver for supplying a T8-type light-emitting diode (LED) lamp with high power factor. The presented driver integrates a dual buck-boost converter with coupled inductors and a half-bridge series-resonant converter into a single-stage power-conversion topology. The features of the driver are cost-effectiveness, high efficiency (>91%), high power factor (PF>0.96), low input current total-harmonic-distortion (THD<;9%), and zero-voltage switching (ZVS) obtained on both power switches. Operational principles are described in detail, and satisfying experimental results obtained with an 18W-rated T8-type LED lamp operating at 50 kHz switching frequency with a 110V-rms line input voltage have demonstrated the functionality of the proposed driver.
