Abstract :
Two aspects of a process identification related to the model accuracy and process identifiability are discussed. The identification is used on a first stage of controller tuning, while the second stage is a controller parameter optimization. A restriction on identified model bandwidth is determined for controller parameter optimization from the correct tuning point of view. Besides, the requirement for a deterministic test signal is formulated from a process identifiability point of view in the case of the nonparametric identification. Retrofit of two 75 MW boilers at IEC Power Station is fulfilled by implementation of this tuning procedure, yielding satisfactory results
